Here are the top three stories in Cleveland today:

  1. Mayor Justin Bibb has issued a mask advisory for all indoor spaces in Cleveland, effective immediately through Jan. 31. This advisory holds for all citizens, regardless of vaccination status, to limit the spread of COVID-19. The Cleveland Department of Public Health reports that approximately 46% of citizens have completed the vaccination process. (Cleveland 19 News)
  2. Cleveland resident and Olympic icon Jesse Owens will soon be honored with a fixture at Rockefeller Park. Plans are underway to build a plaza at the site of the oak tree planted in his honor, as well as new pathways, seating, signs, and public art. (News 5 Cleveland)
  3. The Cleveland Police Department is looking to identify a suspect who fled the scene of a shooting on Jan. 16. A 53-year-old man received a gunshot wound to the abdomen when shots were fired in a parking lot near West Boulevard and Lorain Avenue; a second man fled the area shortly thereafter and was caught on camera doing so.
