Here are the top stories in Cleveland today:
- Frank Q. Jackson, the grandson of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, was shot and killed on Sunday night. The shooting happened at approximately 9 p.m., near Sidaway and E. 70th St., according to Cleveland police. On Monday morning, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office confirmed that Jackson's death is being investigated as a homicide. (Cleveland Patch)
- Due to the increased number of COVID-19 patients in Cleveland Clinic's hospitals, the hospital system is scheduling fewer elective surgeries at some of its locations. The Ohio Department of Health reported 214 new COVID-19 hospitalizations and 24 new ICU admissions in the state over the past 24 hours. According to the Ohio Hospital Association, about 40 percent of Ohio hospitals are reporting staffing shortages. (News 5 Cleveland)
- While waiting to stand trial for a 1987 murder, Cleveland man James Zastawnik has died while out on bond. (Cleveland 19 News)
- A 58-year-old Cleveland resident was killed in a motorcycle crash on I-480 in Independence. (News 5 Cleveland)
- A 69-year-old woman shoots and kills a home intruder in North Olmsted. (Cleveland 19 News)
