Missing Children Found Abandoned At Cleveland Gas Station

Police said two children were discovered outside a gas station. Investigators believe the kids were left alone in a van for nearly 3 hours.

CLEVELAND — Two children were found abandoned in a van outside of a gas station in Cleveland on Monday morning. Police said the kids may have been left alone in the van for nearly three hours.

Officers were sent to the Sunoco gas station at E. 131st and Harvard after callers said two children were left alone in a parked van. Investigators believe a man drove the van to the gas station, parked it, spent 90 minutes inside the station, and then walked away.

The children were discovered in the van an hour after the man left.

The kids and their mother were reported missing by Maple Heights police. The mother has not yet been located, Cleveland police said.

The children were taken to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children for an evaluation. Police said they are writing child endangering reports on the man and the missing other.

Officers are waiting with the children at the hospital while the Department of Children and Family Services determines where the kids will go.

Police said they are still investigating the incident.
