My Friends Restaurant Shooting: 2 People Accused Of Murder
Prosecutors announced charges in a deadly shooting that claimed two lives.
CLEVELAND — Two people have been accused of killing two people at My Friends Restaurant in Cleveland.
Anthony Hunt, 29, and Antonio Ortiz, 24, were indicted for the murders of two people at the diner in the Edgewater neighborhood. Both men faces charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, illegal possession of a firearm, having weapons under disability, and aggravated riot.
Both men are currently being held at Cuyahoga County Jail on a $2 million bond. They will be arraigned at a later date, prosecutors said.

“These individuals fired over 30 shots inside a restaurant full of patrons,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “Two individuals lost their lives and now they will pay the price.”
On March 22, 2021, Ortiz and a 27-year-old began arguing inside the restaurant. Ortiz and Hunt then retrieved guns and began firing inside diner, court documents said.

Ortiz then dropped his gun, got into a nearby car and drove off, while Hunt stayed at the restaurant, prosecutors said.
When Cleveland police arrived, they found the 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were both wounded. EMS gave them first aid and then took them to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead, court documents said.
Hunt and Ortiz were both also hurt in shooting, prosecutors said, and were taken to a hospital for medical treatment. They were both later arrested.
