  1. Northeast Ohio's three major hospital groups made a joint statement Friday regarding a surge in COVID-19 — and how they plan to ensure people get the care they need. The release from Cleveland Clinic, the MetroHealth System, and University Hospitals says health systems are seeing "unprecedented demand for inpatient care." Due to the increase in coronavirus cases, all three hospital groups are making adjustments to non-urgent surgeries at certain locations. (fox8.com)
  2. After eight narcotics-related deaths in Cuyahoga County on Thursday, Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Dr. Thomas Gilson issued a health alert on Friday morning. Gilson's office is expediting testing to determine which drugs played a role in Thursday's overdoses. Currently, the county expects to have more than 700 residents die of overdose deaths in 2021.
