New Beer Sales Will Support Cleveland Metroparks Golf Courses

Sales of a new beer from Market Garden Brewery will pay for protective equipment for golf course staff.

CLEVELAND — Sales of a new golf-themed beer, Pin High Pilsner, will benefit the Cleveland Metroparks, the park system announced Monday. The beer can be purchased at all Cleveland Metroparks golf courses and Market Garden Brewery's Ohio City brewpub.

The Cleveland Metroparks have eight golf courses. All eight courses are open to the public, with social distancing measures in place because of the new coronavirus. Courses vary in difficulty, from a sporting par three at Shawnee Hills to championship layouts at Manakiki and Sleepy Hollow.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of Pin High Pilsner will be donated to the park system's Golf Education Fund, which supports access to the game for youth living in Cuyahoga County. A percentage of proceeds will also be used to buy personal protective equipment for golf course staff.

“We have a dedicated team of staff that remains committed to keeping all eight of our golf courses open and operating for guests to enjoy and appreciate the support of Market Garden Brewery,” said Sean McHugh, Cleveland Metroparks executive director of golf operations. “We look forward to growing the partnership and working closely to enable more youth to experience the exercise, patience and integrity the game teaches you."

Pin High Pilsner is a Czech-inspired Pilsner, according to Market Garden Brewery. The beer has a blend of European pale malts and spicy Saaz hops.
