"We believe the entire northeast Ohio region will enjoy reading about the history and present work of the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit."

Press release from Friends of the Cleveland Mountain Police:

March 21, 2021

The history and role of the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit in community policing is captured in a new website, according to Woods King III, principal officer with the Cleveland Mounted Police Charitable Trust. The Trust underwrites the expense of the website and its maintenance.

“We believe the entire northeast Ohio region will enjoy reading about the history and present work of the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit,” said King. “The photography and freshness of this website captures the personality of this special Cleveland treasure and example of community policing at work. The mounted police certainly reflect positively on the image of the city of Cleveland.”

The website indicates that the Cleveland Mounted Police Unit is assigned to the Traffic Department. According to the website, the city pays for the stable that houses the horses and the salaries of the officers that ride and care for them, but it does not pay to purchase the horses or other out-of-the-ordinary expenses. Donations are welcome.

To visit the new website, go to www.clevelandmountedpolice.com or write info@clevelandmountedpolice.com.
