Official Ballot Briefcase Stops by Cleveland on Way to Oscars
Visits Some of the City's Most Iconic Attractions While in Town
The nominees have been announced, votes are being counted and the official Oscars’ Ballot Briefcase is polished and shined! But before it reaches Hollywood for the 89th annual Academy Awards, the famous Briefcase stopped in Cleveland. While in town, it did some sight-seeing, visiting the Jim Brown statue, going to a Cavs game and stopping by Edgewater Park.
This is one of two briefcases used that night. On the day of the awards show, the two briefcases will be escorted from a top-secret location, in two different cars that take two different routes to the Dolby Theater. In 2014, as a joke, Cate Blanchett tried to grab the briefcase backstage. It was quite a surreal moment, as her name was in one of the envelopes. Later that that night she won an Oscar for Best Actress.
