- As the third year of the pandemic begins, Ohio's foodbanks are starting to go hungry. While centers have benefited from special relief funds and help from the National Guard, they're facing increasing strains as temporary relief is set to expire. With a rise in both food costs and demand, a drop in corporate donations, and staff overwork, the Ohio Association of Foodbanks is asking the DeWine administration for $183 million from the more than $3 billion in American Rescue Act funds still available to the state. (Ohio Capital Journal)
- Cleveland's changemakers will be recognized at this year's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration. WOIO 19 News, in partnership with the Cleveland Public Library, will broadcast the event Saturday, Jan. 15 and Monday, Jan. 17. The theme of this year's celebration is "Courage, Commitment, and Change." (Cleveland 19 News)
- On Friday, 18-year-old Tamara McLoyd was indicted on charges of murder in connection to the death of Cleveland police officer Shane Bartek. It is believed that McLoyd robbed the off-duty officer, ran behind him to shoot him, and then stole his car. (Cleveland Patch)
