Ohio Connections Academy Ranked Among Nation’s Best Online High Schools

Ohio Connections Academy (OCA) was recently ranked the nation’s 30th best online high school by Niche. The online publication, which analyzes dozens of public data sets as well as user reviews to produce comprehensive school rankings and report cards, also ranked OCA as the 3rd Best Charter High School in Ohio.

To determine OCA’s ranking, Niche considered a variety of factors including state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and student and parent reviews. Specifically, Niche gave Ohio Connections an overall grade of B with its teachers and college readiness earning a “B+” and overall academics a “B-.”

Stephanie Hudzik of Clinton (Summit County) said her daughter Samantha was always an exceptional student, but they realized she needed an environment that offered more advanced courses and the flexibility to take college courses and be heavily involved in outside activities such as theater. Samantha is currently a junior at OCA and has been attending Malone University in Canton since she was freshman.

“Our daughter needed the flexibility of an online school with a course structure and teachers that kept her challenged to be the best student she can be,” she said. “Through Ohio Connections Academy, Samantha got the best of both worlds and learned important self-discipline and time management skills. More importantly perhaps, OCA supported her goals as a student and enabled her to excel in college level coursework.”

Marie Hanna, Superintendent of Ohio Connections Academy attributed the school’s success to the dedication and hard work of its teachers but also by the determination and support of its students and parents.

Ohio Connections Academy is a free, fully-online public charter school that students in grades K-12 attend from home. OCA delivers high-quality, personalized education for students that combines Ohio-certified teachers , a proven curriculum, as well as technology tools, and community experiences—online and in person—to create a supportive environment for children who want an individualized approach to education.
