Ohio Coronavirus Update: 26,954 Cases, 1,581 Deaths

There are nearly 27,000 cases of the new coronavirus and nearly 1,600 coronavirus-related deaths in Ohio as of Friday.

COLUMBUS, OH — There are nearly 27,000 cases of the new coronavirus and nearly 1,600 coronavirus-related deaths in Ohio as of Friday, according to the state health department.

Since the start of the outbreak, at least 1,581 Ohioans have died due to complications from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, according to state health department data.

To date, there have been a total of 26,954 cases of COVID-19 in the state, and 4,791 hospitalizations. As of Friday, there were 1,277 patients in intensive care.

Franklin County leads Ohio in confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 4,330 reported. Lucas County leads the state in COVID-19-related deaths, with 204.

  • Franklin: 4,330 cases; 156 deaths
  • Cuyahoga: 3,156 cases; 162 deaths
  • Marion: 2,436 cases; 15 deaths
  • Pickaway: 2,005 cases; 25 deaths
  • Hamilton: 1,961 cases; 109 deaths
  • Lucas: 1921 cases; 204 deaths
  • Mahoning: 1,185 cases; 145 deaths
  • Summit: 989 cases; 104 deaths
  • Lorain: 585 cases; 56 deaths
  • Butler: 558 cases; 16 deaths
