Ohio COVID-19 Cases, Hospitalizations, Deaths Surge Again

COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio's new coronavirus surge continued Tuesday. Health officials confirmed an increase in new cases, hospitalizations and deaths in the past 24 hours.

Over the past three weeks, Ohio has averaged approximately 600 new COVID-19 cases per day. On Tuesday, health officials confirmed 743 COVID-19 cases across the state.

There was also a surge in new hospitalizations and deaths caused by the virus. The state's daily average for deaths had been 21 per day over the past three weeks. On Tuesday, 45 Ohioans died due to COVID-19.

Hospitalizations were also up Tuesday. Over the past three weeks, there were approximately 60 new COVID-19-related hospitalizations per day in Ohio. On Tuesday, there were 93 COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Ohio.

Gov. Mike DeWine has been urging Ohioans to wear masks and get COVID-19 tests. He said Ohioans must take the virus seriously to keep the state's economy running smoothly.
