Ohio Investigating Possible 1st Coronavirus Death
There are now more than 100 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, COVID-19, statewide.
MAUMEE, OH — Ohio officials are investigating the first possible presumptive coronavirus death in the state, Dr. Amy Acton, director of the state health department, said Thursday.
Mark Wagoner, Sr., a 76-year-old attorney in Lucas County, died on Wednesday, the Toledo Blade reported. Wagoner's family has chosen to publicly identify their father to encourage Ohioans to take more safety precautions.
Wagoner's doctor ordered a test for COVID-19 on March 13. Acton said she expects the results of the test very soon.

In a post on social media, Wagoner's son, Mark Wagoner, Jr., wrote, "We’re heartbroken but take comfort in the 76 years he had. What a life. Our Dad gave his all for his family, his community, his clients, and his colleagues. He had a boundless ability to love and always looked for the best in everyone he met. And he was funny, always quick with a joke and a reminder to never take ourselves too seriously."
Wagoner, Jr. then confirmed that the family is working with health officials as they await his father's test results.
