Ohio Officials Target Fall Reopening For K-12 Schools
Gov. Mike DeWine said he wants to reopen public schools in the fall.
COLUMBUS, OH — Ohio schools will likely resume in the fall, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Tuesday. Government officials are working with K-12 school leaders across Ohio to determine how to safely reopen schools.
The start date for schools will be determined by the local boards of education.
State leaders will give districts broad outlines for health guidelines, with the ability for each district to implement and follow those guidelines in their own way.

Deaths caused by COVID-19 were up again on Tuesday in Ohio, according to the state health department. Over the past three weeks, Ohio had averaged 39 COVID-19-related deaths per day. On Tuesday, at least 52 COVID-19-related deaths were confirmed.
While deaths were up, new cases, hospitalizations and intensive care admissions were down versus their three-week daily average. Officials confirmed 366 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, down versus the three-week average of 529 new cases per day. Ohio has now seen 36,350 COVID-19 cases since the start of the outbreak.
