Ohio Still 1 Of 5 Cheapest States For Gas

CLEVELAND, OH - Gas prices in Ohio are starting to level out, hovering around $2.10 for two weeks straight. Compared to national gas prices, Ohio is still offering a cheaper gallon of regular than other states.

According to travel organization AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular is $2.28 this week. Last week, gas prices, for a gallon of regular, in Ohio were $2.11. This week they're down to $2.09.

Ohio's average gallon of regular has been trending significantly below the national average for all of 2017. AAA says that Ohioans have saved an average of 17 cents versus the national average through the first two months of the year.

The five most expensive states for a gallon of regular are Hawaii ($3.11), California ($2.87), Washington ($2.73), Alaska ($2.73) and Pennsylvania ($2.53). Ohio is ranked as one of the five cheapest states for a gallon of regular.

A year ago, gas prices were significantly lower than they are today. The average cost of a gallon of regular in the Buckeye State was $1.69. In 12 months, Ohioans have seen a price jump of nearly 40 cents.
