Ohio Turnpike Removing Toll Gates For E-Z Pass Users
Construction to remove the toll gates should start before 2020.

E-Z Pass drivers will find the Ohio Turnpike a little faster soon. That's because toll gates are being removed for E-Z Pass users.
Construction to remove the toll gates is slated to begin later in 2019. In the place of the gates, the Ohio Turnpike Commission will install overhead sensors at both the Indiana and Pennsylvania state borders. Nine toll gates will be removed.
E-Z Pass drivers will only need to slow their vehicles down (to between 10 and 15 mph) rather than coming to a full stop for the sensors, according to Cleveland 19.

To facilitate the modernization of the turnpike, two new mainline plazas will be built in Lucas and Trumbull counties, Fox 8 reported. The switch-over to overhead sensors should be complete by 2021.
