Ohio Woman Accused Of Smuggling Baby In Bag At Airport

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — An Ohio woman tried to smuggle a 6-day-old infant out of the Philippines, officials announced on Thursday. Authorities stopped the woman before she boarded her flight and she now faces charges for human trafficking.

Jennifer Talbot, 43, was carrying the baby in a sling bag, according to the Philippines Bureau of Immigration. She managed to get through security with the hidden child, but was stopped at her gate by airport personnel. She had no passport or papers for the child, Fox 8 reported.

Law enforcement announced charges against Talbot on Thursday, bringing an orange-clad Talbot to face the media. The Ohioan issued no statement. She faces possible charges for human trafficking.

The U.S. Embassy has been made aware of Talbot's arrest.

Officials are currently searching for the infant's parents, WKYC reported. The child's parents could face charges for child endangering.
