Piper Kerman Joins 'Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!' Ohio Tapings

The author of the book "Orange is the New Black" will take part in the NPR show's Blossom Music Center recording.

NPR's live taping of "Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!" at Blossom Music Center will feature Piper Kerman, the author of "Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison."

Kerman's memoir inspired the hit Netflix series "Orange is the New Black." She now lives with her family in Columbus, Ohio and teaches writing in two state prisons, as an affiliate instructor with Otterbein University.

The live taping will be held July 18 at 7:30 p.m. Host Peter Sagal will lead Kerman and the rest of the panel through the comedy news show. The rest of the cast for the Blossom recording includes comedian Alonzo Bodden, the winner of season three of NBC's Last Comic Standing, Maeve Higgins, a contributing writer for the New York Times, and Mo Rocca, a journalist, humorist and actor who was once a correspondent for the Daily Show.

Contestants vie for an extraordinary prize: a custom-recorded greeting by any of the cast members. The panelists for the Blossom Music Center recording have not yet been announced.

The show will be broadcast locally on 90.3 and 89.7. National NPR affiliates will being airing the program on July 20.

Attendees will be able to watch the on-stage action on LED screens hung throughout the Pavilion of Blossom.

Lawn tickets are $29 and Pavilion tickets are $39.

The event is the result of a collaboration between the Cleveland Orchestra, 90.3 WCPN ideastream, and 89.7 WKSU.
