Police Looking For SUV That Hit Pedestrian In Cleveland

Cleveland police said a 26-year-old woman was hit by an SUV as she was leaving Poochie's Deli in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver that hit a 26-year-old woman as she crossed a street in Cleveland on Saturday. The woman has been confined at University Hospital since the accident.

Ayana Barkley, 26, was visiting Poochie's Deli on Miles Avenue on Saturday morning, at 2:15 a.m. She left the business and was crossing Miles Avenue when she was hit by an SUV.

The SUV did not stop and continued west down Miles.

Police said Barkley suffered "severe trauma" and is confined at University Hospital for treatment.

The SUV is possibly a Ford Explorer, an early 2000s model, and is light in color (possibly grey, silver or white), Cleveland police said. Anyone with information on the incident should contact Cleveland police's Accident Investigation Unit at 216-623-5295.
