Police Officer Shot In Cleveland: More Details Released
A Cleveland police officer was shot during a standoff on Monday morning, according to police.
CLEVELAND — Police have released more information on the standoff that led to an officer being shot on Monday morning.
At 3:45 a.m., police were called to a boarding house on E. 81st Street. A woman said she'd gotten into a fight with a man inside. When officers went into the house, they were spotted by a man who pulled out a gun and began shooting at them. One officer returned fire and police retreated out of the house.
As they were leaving the house, one officer was struck by gunfire. Her partner gave her first aid until EMS arrived. She is confined at University Hospitals, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.

The suspect then locked himself inside the house.
Members of the SWAT team and crisis negotiations team surrounded the boarding house. The suspect eventually surrendered to police and was peacefully taken into custody. Police found a gun inside the boarding house.

The suspect was not hurt during the incident.
The incident is still under investigation.
