Electric Citizen branch out with stage-born assurance across a collection of definitive rock ‘n’ roll. It is a bold, complete sound that sacrifices nothing of the band’s on-stage energy and clearly demonstrates that while their progression has been quick, it’s been hard won the traditional way: They worked their collective ass off. After bursting to the American heavy rock forefront with their 2014 debut album, Sateen, Electric Citizen released their second album, Higher Time in 2016; a breakout moment for the band as a whole and for vocalist Laura Dolan. Electric Citizen brazenly refuse to be pigeonholed and craft a style that, like every stage they step onto, is completely their own.
Surfer Blood are one of the best young indie-rock bands around, and their fourth album, Snowdonia, is their most ambitious effort yet. Overcoming adversity, the band has artistically grown and thrived. Following the departure of bassist Kevin Williams and guitarist Thomas Fekete (tragically lost to cancer in May), singer/guitarist John Paul Pitts and drummer Tyler Schwarz have rebuilt a talented line-up with guitarist Michael McCleary and bassist Lindsey Mills, all four alumni of the same high school in West Palm Beach, Florida.Post Animal are a band of brothers. Though they formed in 2014 and just began touring in 2017, their affinity for slick riffs, pop hooks, and psychedelic tendencies join them in a bond much tighter than their years suggest.
With their wavy and warped first project, 2015’s Post Animal Perform The Most Curious Water Activities EP, and then 2016’s memorable singles collection, The Garden Series, the band showcased mesmerizing and infectious pop melodies. Between their impressive early releases and their wild live shows which feature the band members sharing lead vocal duties, Post Animal have unquestionably solidified themselves as one of Chicago’s most exciting up-and-coming acts.Food trucks will be vending on site, including Burning River Bistro from 2 to 6 PM and Touch Supper Club from 6 to 11 PM. You may bring a picnic and your own beverages, but please leave glass bottles and containers at home.
