The president is leading a "Get Out the Early Vote" rally.

CLEVELAND, OH — President Barack Obama is returning to Cleveland on Friday to campaign for Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton. Obama will lead a "Get Out the Early Vote" rally. Early voting began Oct. 12.

Obama will be appearing at Burke Lakefront Airport from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Doors for the event opened at 8:30 a.m.

According to the Clinton campaign website, Obama will urge Ohioans to go vote for Clinton and to support her agenda to "build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top."

According to recent polls, Obama has never been more popular with the American people. His approval rating hit 55 percent in a poll released last Thursday, making it the highest it has been in his second term in office and matching the best at any time in his first year at the White House. Obama is up 12 points among Democrats to 89 percent approval, and 14 among independents to 56 percent approval, but his approval among Republicans has barely moved from 11 percent to 13 percent.

Clinton was in the state on Monday when she held her own rally in Columbus at Ohio State University, urging attendees to register to vote or to get their friends registered to vote.

The newest poll of Ohio voters shows Clinton holding a 2 percentage point lead over Trump. This breaks from previous polls that found Trump had led his opponent consistently since mid-September. At one point, Trump was leading Clinton by as much as 5 points. Nationally, Clinton has started to pull away in key battleground states like Florida, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
