Rapper, Former Miami Of Ohio Wideout, Arrested In Florida
Plies — whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington — allegedly brought a gun into an airport.

TAMPA, FL — A former Miami University wide receiver, and hip hop artist, was arrested for trying to carry a semiautomatic pistol onto an airplane on Wednesday. Plies — whose real name is Algernod Lanier Washington — was stopped by airport security after a 9 mm pistol was found in his carry-on bag.
Plies, 42, is being charged with carrying a concealed firearm.
Plies is now a Florida resident. He lives in Wesley Chapel, a suburb of the Tampa Bay metro area.

Carrying a weapon into an airport terminal is against the law. All guns must be locked in a secured case and checked as baggage. Washington was released from jail after posting a $2,000 bond.
A former wide receiver for the Miami University football team in Ohio, Washington has released four albums. His debut album, The Real Testament, was released in 2007 and included the singles, "Shawty" and "Hypnotized." He released two more albums in 2008, Definition of Real and Da REAList, and the fourth album, Goon Affiliated, in 2010. He is currently working on his fifth album, Purple Heart.
