Remembering Aretha Franklin: 1st Woman Inducted To Rock Hall
The Queen of Soul's funeral is Friday. Let's remember some of her iconic Rock Hall performances.
DETROIT — Aretha Franklin redefined American music with a voice that could shake walls with its tectonic power. On Friday, luminaries from the arts and politics will gather in Detroit to say goodbye to the woman appropriately called the Queen of Soul.
Franklin was the first woman to be inducted into Cleveland's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, shaking up the makeup of the museum. "Aretha Franklin was an artist of passion, sophistication and command, whose recordings remain anthems that defined soul music. Long live the Queen," the Rock Hall said on Twitter after Franklin passed.
She became a regular performer at Rock Hall ceremonies, honoring Sam Cooke and coming back for the 25th Anniversary of the museum. She shared the stage with Annie Lennox during the latter performance, which can be seen below.
