RTA Bus Hits Pedestrian In Cleveland's Public Square

A 61-year-old man crossing the street was struck by the bus and then rushed to a local hospital.

CLEVELAND — An RTA bus hit a man as he crossed the street in Public Square on Wednesday afternoon. The man was rushed to a local hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, officials said.

The collision happened at about 5 p.m. near the northwest corner of the W. Superior Avenue-W. Roadway intersection. The pedestrian, a 61-year-old, had a "Don't Walk" signal and was waiting to cross. An RTA bus was sitting at a red light in the right-turn-only lane of W. Roadway, facing south.

When the traffic signal turned green, the pedestrian signal flipped, giving the pedestrian the right to walk. As the 61-year-old started to cross, the bus made a right turn and hit him.
