Scorching Hot Temperatures Could Sizzle In Northern Ohio

Blistering hot temperatures are expected to linger in northern Ohio for more than a week, current forecasts show.

CLEVELAND — Temperatures will climb into the 90s over the Independence Day weekend and remain scorching hot into next week, current forecasts for northern Ohio warn.

"A prolonged stretch of above normal temperatures is expected through next week. Temperatures will generally be in the low 90s with heat index values reaching the mid to upper 90s at times, especially across Northwest Ohio. Take precautions to avoid heat related illnesses," the National Weather Service warned.

Even Northeast Ohio will see consistently blistering temperatures and heat indexes, forecasts warn.

Extended forecasts show little chance for rain over the upcoming week in northern Ohio. Temperatures will remain steadily in the upper 90s through at least the end of next week, before showers or thunderstorms arrive to cool things off.

Early next week will see overnight lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Northern Ohioans will want to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Ohioans should also check on older neighbors or family members who may be more susceptible to heat illness.
