Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Cuyahoga, Lorain Counties

Quarter-sized hail and 60 mph wind gusts could hit Northeast Ohio this afternoon.

CLEVELAND, OH — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Cuyahoga and Lorain counties for Tuesday afternoon. The warning expires at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"At 1:23 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Westlake, or 10 miles west of Cleveland, moving northeast at 55 mph," the National Weather Service said. The storm is bringing wind gusts of up to 60 mph through Northeast Ohio.

The agency is also predicting quarter-sized hail could fall, causing minor damage to vehicles. Residents should expect damage to trees and power lines.

About 400 people were still without power in Northeast Ohio as of 1:40 p.m. Additional outages are likely in places the storm hits.
