Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Much Of Ohio

Damaging winds and heavy rain will hit the region on Sunday.

CLEVELAND — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of Ohio on Sunday afternoon.

The thunderstorm watch will remain in place until at least 4 p.m., the National Weather Service said. The storm could produce hail, rain and damaging winds.

The storms were spotted near Kelleys Island at noon, the National Weather Service said. The stormfront is moving northeast at 50 knots. Boats on the lake are being asked to move to safe harbor immediately.

"Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves," the agency said.

Powerful winds are also expected to sweep through the region, downing tree branches and possibly causing power outages.
