Shooting At Cleveland Library Kills 19-Year-Old

A 19-year-old was found inside a Cleveland library branch with multiple gunshot wounds, Cleveland police said.

CLEVELAND — A 19-year-old was shot to death inside the South Brooklyn Branch of the Cleveland Public Library system on Tuesday evening.

Callers reported that a man had been shot inside the branch at about 6:10 p.m. Officers rushed to the Pearl Road library and found the man inside, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers and EMS gave the 19-year-old first aid and then took him to MetroHealth Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and died, police said.

Investigators believe the 19-year-old and another person met at the library and then got into a fight. During the scuffle, several shots were fired by the suspect. The suspect then ran out of the library.

Cleveland police initially said the 19-year-old was shot in the chest.

The Cleveland police homicide unit and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office are both taking part in the investigation.
