Shooting On Cleveland's West Side: 4 People Wounded

Police believe four people were hurt during a drive-by shooting on Lawn Avenue.

CLEVELAND — Four people were shot on Cleveland's west side on Sunday afternoon. Two cars were seen speeding away from the site of the shooting.

According to Cleveland police records, the shootings happened on Lawn Avenue at 2 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his back and a 20-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her ankle.

Both shooting victims were given first aid by police and EMS before being taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. Two other victims of the shooting were discovered at the hospital. A 29-year-old man was shot in the leg and another man was shot in his lower back.

None of the victims could identify their shooters and they said they did not know of anyone that would want to harm them.

Witnesses said a red car and a black car were seen speeding away from the shooting, according to Cleveland police records. One of the victims said they heard gunshots, tried to run away, and were shot in the back. After they hit the ground, they saw what they believe was the butt of a rifle protruding from a rolled-down window in the black car.

Two cars and a home were also hit by bullets in the shooting, police said.
