Sizzling Temperatures This Weekend For Northeast Ohio

Temperatures will climb into the mid-90s by Sunday, with a heat index surpassing 100 degrees.

CLEVELAND — Temperatures will jump into the mid-90s before the end of the weekend, according to current forecasts.

The warm-up will begin Saturday, with temperatures moving into the low 90s. By Sunday, temperatures will be in the mid-90s.

"Humid conditions arrive on Sunday with heat indices above 100 degrees likely," the National Weather Service said.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels outside, factoring relative humidity into the actual temperature. The National Weather Service has produced a chart to better understand the heat index.

There is a chance of storms developing on Sunday evening. Rain and thunderstorms are likely sometime between 1 p.m. and midnight. Chances for showers will increase as the evening wears on.

Temperatures will remain relatively high heading into next week, with temperatures expected to remain in the upper 80s. Storms could continue through Sunday into early next week, which could temporarily reduce the heat in some areas.
