Sunset Memorial Park Hosts “A Walk to Remember”

Event is in honor of October's Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted hosted “A Walk to Remember” on Saturday in honor of October’s “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.” The event was open to anyone who has lost a child – during pregnancy or as an infant, for instance – as well as anyone who wanted to offer their support to those remembering loved ones.

Candice Bertemes, general manager at Sunset Memorial, addressed families before joining them on the 1.5-mile-long walk through the 170-acre park.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan declared October as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month” to recognize the unique grief of bereaved parents and to demonstrate support to the many families who have suffered such a tragic loss.
