YOUNGSTOWN, OH — An Ohio State Highway Patrolman was hurt on Thursday night when he was dragged by a suspect's escaping car. Now the Patrol is asking the public for help finding that suspect.
Jamel Robert Patton, 22, was pulled over on Glenn Oak Drive in Youngstown. The car door on Patton's car was open and a trooper was talking to him when Patton decided to flee.
He threw his car into drive, leaving the door open, and started driving, the Patrol said. One of the troopers jumped into the open door and tried to stop the vehicle, getting dragged about one mile for his troubles.
