Sweet Moses Develops Candy Bar For Cleveland Orchestra

The Belgian-chocolate candy bar features an impression of Severance Hall on its face.

CLEVELAND, OH - Premium Belgian chocolate hits most people's palate the same way: a rush of electric deliciousness that overwhelms the circuitry of the brain that's tied into taste. That particular ingredient is why some people are excited about Sweet Moses Soda Fountain & Treat Shop's newest chocolate creation.

The Cleveland-based sweets maker and shop has teamed up with the Cleveland Orchestra to create the Cleveland Orchestra Second Century Chocolate Bar, a Belgian-chocolate based delight with an impression of Severance Hall molded into the chocolate.

The candy bar is meant to commemorate the beginning of the Orchestra's 100th season, which runs from 2017-2018. The Orchestra has termed it the launch of the Second Century for the Cleveland Orchestra.

“We are honored to take part in the Cleveland Orchestra’s upcoming centennial celebration and are thrilled about this collaboration,” says Sweet Moses founder Jeff Moreau in a press release. “The Orchestra’s lasting legacy and commitment to musical excellence is a source of pride for all of Cleveland.”

The new candy won't be available to the public until the Fall, but guests at the Second Century launch on March 17 got to sample the chocolate bar. Five hundred samples were donated to guests, who likely devoured them and left the rest of us waiting until the leaves morph radiant again.

“The Cleveland Orchestra is delighted to be collaborating with Sweet Moses for this exclusive chocolate,” says Ross Binnie, Cleveland Orchestra, chief marketing officer, in a statement. “This wonderful sweet shop in Gordon Square has a special meaning for us, as it was one of the venues we performed at during our first ‘At Home Neighborhood Residency’ in 2013. Sweet Moses is a wonderful partner and what better way to celebrate our Second Century than by adding a fantastic chocolate.”
