Teen Girl Killed During Car Chase Through Cleveland

The car chase started on Cleveland's west side, near Lakewood, and ended in East Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — A teenage girl was killed after police chased a stolen car into East Cleveland on Friday. One suspect was taken into custody, Cleveland police said. A second suspect escaped.

At 3:20 p.m. on Friday, a woman leaving Target on W. 117th Street, was robbed by a man with a gun. The suspect took the woman's car and drove off. The woman was not hurt.

The robbery was seen by an off-duty police officer who trailed the stolen car.

Uniformed police caught up to the stolen vehicle on I-90 east. The car was chased into East Cleveland and the pursuit was called off near Lakefront and Euclid.

The stolen car was then involved in a crash which killed a 13-year-old girl, who was walking, police said.

Police took a 15-year-old boy into custody at the site of the crash. They found a gun near the car.

A second suspect ran away from the crash on foot, police said.

The robbery and crash are still under investigation, police said.
