Teenage Girl Shot During Drive-By In Cleveland

A 17-year-old was rushed to University Hospitals on Friday after she was wounded.

CLEVELAND, OH — A 17-year-old girl was shot while sitting in a car at E.169th Street and Lakeshore on Friday. Witnesses told police that as many as 14 gunshots were fired at the girl's vehicle.

Police were called to the area a little after midnight for reports of a woman that had been shot. As they were driving to the scene reports of more gunfire in the area of E.152nd and Westropp came in. Officers went to the Lakeshore scene, near the Blue Breeze Bar, and saw a man in a black hoodie waving them down.

There was a white Volkswagen with bullet holes nearby and the 17-year-old was in the front seat, unconscious and not breathing. Officers gave the girl chest compressions and a resuscitation mask, trying to keep her holding on until EMS arrived.

Within minutes, an EMS crew was on the scene and rushed the girl to University Hospitals for treatment. There's no word on the girl's status, yet.

Police said there were multiple bullet holes on the Volkswagen and a spent slug on the front passenger side. Both the driver's side and passenger side front windows had been broken out, according to police records obtained by Patch.

A witness who had been with the 17-year-old said they had been followed by a dark car that was shooting at them. He said that incident started near Westropp. Police found multiple spent shells and shattered glass in that area.

The man said he a dark car had pulled up behind the Volkswagen. He asked the teenager if she knew them, she said no and then multiple gunshots rang out. The man then drove off, trying to get away from the attackers. He ended up on Lakeshore where he made contact with police.
