Teenager Killed In Stabbing On Cleveland's West Side

Police said a 15-year-old has been taken into custody after a 16-year-old was stabbed to death in Old Brooklyn.

CLEVELAND — A 16-year-old was stabbed to death in Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon, Cleveland police announced. A 15-year-old has been taken into custody on suspicion of the killing.

At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, callers reported a large fight breaking out on Pearl Road and Cecilia Avenue in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood. When officers arrived they saw a large group of juveniles running near the Sunoco Gas Station at 4475 Pearl Road.

Officers then saw a 16-year-old on the ground with a stab wound. Police gave the teenager first aid until EMS rushed him to MetroHealth. He died at the hospital, police said.

The preliminary investigation into the killing revealed the 15-year-old had been involved in the fight callers reported. He told police several people attacked him and he grabbed a knife and stabbed the 16-year-old.

The 15-year-old was taken to Fairview Hospital for superficial wounds, police said. He was treated and then released. He has since been booked at Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, where he remains.

The Cleveland police homicide unit were called to investigate. No further information is being released on the stabbing, police said.
