Teen's Death Ruled A Homicide By Cleveland Police

A 16-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound to his head. The teen's death has since been ruled a homicide, police said.

CLEVELAND — A 16-year-old in Cleveland died from a gunshot to the head on May 12. This week, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled the teenager's death a homicide.

On May 12, on E. 143rd St. callers reporting hearing a gunshot and seeing a man collapse. Police found the 16-year-old with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators originally thought the teenager had committed suicide.

Further investigation later revealed the 16-year-old was shot by another teenager. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office then ruled the teen's death a homicide.

Detectives are reviewing the incident with juvenile prosecutors. The case is still open for investigation, according to a Cleveland police spokesperson.
