The Lake County Sheriff's office said a Michigan man was taken into custody after threatening the Perry Nuclear Plant.

NORTH PERRY, OH — A Michigan man was taken into custody after he made threats towards and trespassed at the Perry Nuclear Plant, the Lake County Sheriff's office announced Thursday.

Michael D. Fogelsong, 33, of Adrian, Michigan, was charged with making false alarms and aggravated trespass. Additional charges could be forthcoming, the sheriff's office said.

“We want to ensure everyone that there is no ongoing threat or imminent threat to the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. This appears to be an isolated incident,” Sheriff Frank Leonbruno said.

On Wednesday evening, Fogelsong drove to the gate of the Perry Nuclear Plant and refused to leave, sheriff's officials said. When he was confronted by nuclear plant staff, he announced he had a bomb in the trailer attached to his truck, sheriff's officials added.

The FBI and a coalition of local police departments responded and searched Fogelson's trailer and truck. No bomb was found, authorities said.
