Thunderstorms, Flooding Possible In Northeast Ohio
A flash flood watch has been issued for much of northern Ohio as thunderstorms sweep through the region.
CLEVELAND — Damaging thunderstorms could sweep through Northeast Ohio on Saturday and early Sunday, the National Weather Service warned. A flash flood watch has been issued for much of northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
"An isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out. The rainfall could result in flooding of poor drainage areas and rises on area rivers and streams," the National Weather Service said. Wind gusts could hit 50 mph on Saturday and Sunday. Hail is also possible on Saturday.
Thunderstorms and a flash flood could hit the following counties: Lucas, Ottawa, Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Medina, Summit, Portage, Trumbull and Crawford.

"Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected through tonight as a slow moving warm front lifts north across the area," the National Weather Service said. "This warm front will provide a focus for heavy rainfall which may be heavy at times and provide a focus for storms to train over the same areas. Portions of the watch area received an inch of more of rainfall over the last 24 hours. Much of this area can expect another inch to inch and a half of rain through midday Sunday which could result in flash flooding."
There is a small chance rain showers could continue through Monday, according to forecasts.
