Thunderstorms Hit Northeast Ohio Tuesday

Some areas could see 50 mph wind gusts or penny-sized hail, the National Weather Service said.

CLEVELAND — Thunderstorms could sporadically hammer Northeast Ohio on Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns that 50 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail could hit some areas.

Storms are expected to form between noon and 8 p.m. Showers and inclement weather could persist regionally through Thursday as a cold front rolls into Northeast Ohio.

Two areas could specifically be hit hard on Tuesday, Erie and Sandusky counties. Both counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning, the National Weather Service said. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph could damage power lines and trees.

Thunderstorms could continue on Wednesday and Thursday, as temperatures drop from the mid-80s to the mid-70s over the course of the week.

Forecasts say the storms should end before the end of the week. That means the weekend should be sunny and clear with highs in the mid-70s.
