Tornado, Hail, Damaging Winds Possible Wednesday In Northern Ohio

Severe thunderstorms are expected to sweep through northern Ohio, moving west to east in the afternoon and evening.

CLEVELAND — Severe thunderstorms could produce damaging winds, hail or even a tornado when they sweep through northern Ohio on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is expected throughout the region.

A squall line of severe thunderstorms will move west to east through northern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon and evening, the agency said. Along the edge of the squall line, wind gusts could hit 75 mph.

"There is the risk for a couple discrete supercells ahead of the squall line with the potential for a couple tornadoes and large hail possible. Frequent cloud to ground lightning will be likely and localized heavy rainfall will be possible," the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook.
