Tri-C Buying Property In Euclid, Expanding Distribution Program
The college wants to help meet a state need in the logistics, supply chain and distribution industry.

EUCLID, OH — The state has approved the purchase of 12.82 acres of land in Euclid by the Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C). The property will be used to relocate and expand the college's Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics Academy.
“I extend my thanks to Tri-C for keeping this educational program in Euclid. The program will prepare people for jobs in a growth sector of the economy. It’s a good day for Euclid, and it’s a good day for Ohioans seeking a job that pays a healthy living wage,” said State Representative Kent Smith, Democrat from Euclid.
The property being purchased is at 24881 Rockwell Drive. The new space will allow Tri-C to grow out of its small academy space and expand some of their program offerings.

Tri-C didn't request state dollars for the purchase. Instead, the college is funding the purchase and renovation of the new facility with a bond issue. Tuition will not increase, nor will fees or expenses for students, because of the purchase.
In a press release from Smith, it's claimed that Tri-C will save $3 million over the course of the next decade by purchasing this property. That money would then be reinvested into the college.

The new facility will open in June 2018.
The programs taught at the new facility will help students land jobs in warehouses and warehouse distribution centers throughout the state. Ohio is currently in the top 10 of states for warehouse distribution centers. However, there is no regionally recognized training program for logistics, supply chain and warehouse training. This will be Tri-C's attempt to fill that void.
