Car Drags Two Cleveland Police During Arrest

CLEVELAND, OH — Two Cleveland police officers were dragged by a car on Sunday night. The officers were attempting to pull a passenger out of a car when the driver tried to speed away, pulling the police along. Luckily, neither officer was hurt.

The incident took place on the east side, near E. 71st and Kinsman. Police were attempting to arrest a 19-year-old on a felony warrant. After being handcuffed, the teenager jumped into a car to try and get away from police.

While officer tried to get the 19-year-old out of the car, the driver put the car in drive and started to roll off. The two officers trying to pry the teenager out of the car were dragged about 15 to 20 feet, according to Cleveland Police's Detective Reginald Lanton.

The two officers detached themselves from the car and were not hurt. Police were able to find the vehicle and secure it after the incident. Officers found both the driver and the 19-year-old wanted on a felony warrant. Both people were arrested without further incident.
