Two Shootings in 24 Hours in Cleveland

Both involved drive-by shootings.

CLEVELAND, OH - There were two shootings in the city between yesterday afternoon and early this morning.

The first occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Nov. 9. Officers were called to Clarebird for reports of a woman being shot. When they arrived at the area they found the woman laying on the floor with a gunshot wound in her right ankle. Witnesses said the woman had gone outside to move her car when several gunshots erupted. The victim confirmed that report and said that when was outside she looked down and felt a pain in her ankle. She was taken to University Hospitals.

The second incident happened at 2 a.m. Nov. 10. A 44-year-old Cleveland man was shot in the chest and arm while driving home. The man said he was coming back from the "Dogpound" Night Club with some family and friends. While parked on the corner of Nottingham and St. Clair a black Nissan Maxima pulled up next to the man's minivan. The driver of the Maxima seemed to be sizing up the vehicle and then bullets tore into the minivan. The man was struck twice.

The Maxima drove southbound on Nottinghma towards Euclid. The victim was taken to MetroHealth.
