Uber Driver Shot During Attempted Carjacking In Cleveland

Police said the driver was shot in the chest after dropping off a fare in Cleveland.

CLEVELAND — An Uber driver was shot during an attempted carjacking in Cleveland on Tuesday morning. The driver took himself to University Hospitals for treatment, according to police.

The carjacking happened at 3 a.m. near Martin Luther King Dr. and Woodstock Ave., on the city's east side. The Uber driver was dropping off a fare when a man ran toward his car.

The carjacker fired at the man, hitting the driver in the chest. However, the driver got away and was able to take himself to the hospital.

The driver was in stable condition and was able to talk with officers on Tuesday, a Cleveland police spokesperson told Patch

Police said there have been no arrests yet in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
