Video Released Of Jeep That Hit, Hospitalized Cleveland Cop

On Saturday morning, in the midst of the All-Star festivities, a Cleveland police officer was hit by a Jeep Compass, the FBI said.

CLEVELAND — The FBI has joined the search for the driver of a Jeep that hit a Cleveland police officer on Saturday morning. Video of the accident has now been released to the public.

The collision happened at about 4 a.m. at West 9th and West Superior Avenue, a Cleveland police spokesperson said in an emailed statement. After hitting the officer, the vehicle drove off, leaving the officer with his injuries.

After being hospitalized over the weekend, the officer was released, but was later re-admitted to the hospital, a Cleveland police spokesperson said.

The vehicle that hit the officer is believed to be a 2019 white Jeep Compass, Altitude. The vehicle has a black roof and black rims. Police believe the vehicle likely has heavy damage to its front end and damage to its passenger side.

The FBI said the front end damage could have been repaired since the accident, or is in the process of being repaired.

The FBI also said the vehicle may have been in Cleveland for the MLB All-Star Game festivities.

The Cleveland Division of the FBI is matching up to the current reward from Crime Stoppers of $7,500, for a total of up to $15,000, for information that leads to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual responsible.
