Was A Cavs Player Suspended For Throwing Soup?: Report
JR Smith sat out Thursday's night loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. A new report says he may have been suspended for hurling soup at a coach.

CLEVELAND, OH — Was JR Smith suspended from Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers because he threw a bowl of soup at a coach? ESPN seems to think so.
Brian Windhorst is reporting that Smith was taken out of the game because he threw a bowl of soup at assistant coach Damon Jones. Jones was formerly a player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He's been coaching the team since 2014.
Smith was definitely suspended by the team and he did miss Thursday's game. The organization said he was punished for conduct detrimental to the team. Throwing hot food (or gazpacho, maybe) at coaches would certainly seem to qualify as detrimental conduct.

Windhorst's explanation of the suspension is the first media report that attempts to explain why the shooting guard was kept out of the game. It's also kind of hilarious.
Coach Tyronn Lue has been vague about what prompted the suspension, telling reporters only that "something happened" after the team's shootaround. The guard will be back in practice on Friday and back in the starting lineup when they play the Denver Nuggets on Saturday.

And NBA pundits are already having fun at Smith's (literal) expense.
The Cavaliers should make a $94K donation (the amount of the JR Smith fine) to a soup kitchen in Cleveland.
