CLEVELAND, OH — Rallying hard to turn out the African-American vote in Ohio, Hillary Clinton enlisted the help of basketball legend and Ohio native LeBron James, who announced his endorsement for Clinton in early October.
The event Sunday was held just two days after Jay Z and Beyonce held a get-out-the-vote concert for Clinton in the city, making it clear they were endorsing the Democratic nominee for president. Turnout among African-American voters is not near the levels it was in 2008 and 2012 when Barack Obama was elected and the president himself has expressed concern saying the vote is not as strong as it needs to be. Something that is crucial for Clinton winning the presidency.
Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland, has the state's largest concentration of African-Americans and is an area where Obama won 69 percent of the vote in 2012. While Clinton campaigns in Ohio, Obama stumped for Clinton in Florida, where Stevie Wonder performed ahead of the president's speech.
