Watch Live Stream: Barack Obama in Columbus, Ohio

The president will urge Ohioans to cast their ballots early.

COLUMBUS, OH — With one week before the election, President Barack Obama is stumping in an important swing state for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Obama will visit Columbus, Ohio, the capital of the Buckeye State, to urge Ohioans to vote early. His speech is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. You can watch the live stream of the speech below.

Democrats are banking hard on early-voting benefiting their candidate and have been urging voters to get to the polls in advance of Nov. 8. Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine, visited the state last week and urged voters to cast their ballot early. On Friday, rapper Jay-Z will perform a free concert in Cleveland intended to mobilize young voters. The Clinton campaign has also scheduled Sen. Bernie Sanders to make a visit to Ohio.

As of Friday, 1,054,912 ballots have been cast in the state. In Cuyahoga County, nearly 120,000 ballots have already been cast. In neighboring Lorain County, about 30,000 votes have been cast. Those numbers are down from the 2012 election. At this same point in time ahead of the start of absentee voting in 2012, nearly 2 million absentee ballots had been requested with more than 1.2 million ballots having been already cast. That means if Democrats are hoping early voting will favor their candidate, they'll need to step up their efforts in the Buckeye State.

RealClearPolitics shows Donald Trump holding a 2.5 percentage point lead over Clinton in Ohio. A recent Remington Research poll shows Trump holding a 5- point lead, while an Emerson poll shows the candidates in a virtual tie. It's not yet clear what recent scandals for both candidates may do to their place in the polls.

Obama last visited the Buckeye State Oct. 14 when he led a Get Out the Vote rally for Clinton at the Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport.
